Z is for Žiburinis

The Žiburinis is a forest spirit from Lithuanian mythology that appears as a glowing or flaming skeleton.
Snakes were considered sacred in ancient pagan Lithuania, as they were messengers of the the sun, and close to the earth. They were be allowed in homes to warm themselves at the hearth and taste the food on the table.
