G is for Ga-Gorib

There isn't really any description to this creature from the folklore of the Khoikhoi people of South Africa, but most representations of him show him as either a gorilla or a leopard. This creature sits by a deep pit and challenges passersby to throw rocks at him. When they oblige, the rock will bounce off Ga-Gorib's tough hide and fly back at the hapless thrower with enough force to kill them. They then fall into the pit, at which point Ga-Gorib descends into the pit to eat their remains. Ga-Gorib's name means "The Spotted One", but some people believe the "Ga" makes it translate into "Not The Spotted One".
